Hostile Environment Course (3 Day)

This intensive three-day course is aimed at aid workers, NGOs, journalists, human rights workers and students who are planning to visit or work in medium or high-risk hostile environments. It will help you to prepare properly for your mission and for unexpected events that you may encounter while on mission. It includes medical training and realistic practical exercises. The course is also suitable as a refresher for individuals who have served overseas on previous occasions. Course Content/Outline:

• Threat & Risk Assessment.
• Procedures & Evacuation Plans, Grab Bags.
• Natural disasters.
• General Security Awareness.

(Arriving, living and working in a potentially hostile environment)

• Identified Threats, Checkpoints, Car Jacking, Riots.
• Avoiding and dealing with Sexual Assault
• Introduction to Landmines, Unexploded Ordnance, IEDs and procedures.
• Ambush and shelling procedures.
• Driving Procedures.
• Avoiding and dealing with kidnap.
• Medical Pre-Planning, Breathing, Bleeding, Breaks & Burns
• Casualty Assessment, CPR, Trauma
• Negotiation Strategies, Body Language, Non-Verbal Communications
• Checkpoint, Landmine, Carjacking, 1^st Aid, Kidnap Exercises

Cost:

€550 for the three days training, including all training materials, lunch, snacks and coffee.

Accommodation, transportation to and from the Course and other meals are not included. Organisations sending five or more students may avail of a reduced fee. There are several local accommodation providers but the Silken Thomas www.SilkenThomas.com is highly recommended.
