In Spain, there is an NGO Coordination forum called the ‘Coordinadora’ (https://coordinadoraongd.org/).

Within the Coordinadora there is a Security Working Group composed of various humanitarian and development organisations existing in Spain.

The Security Working Group was created in 2014 and its main objectives are:

• To analyse the security management systems in the contexts where the NGOs operate, supporting and following up the activities and projects on these topics that can be implemented by Coordinadora.
• Coordination, exchange of information, resources, tools or experiences among the organisations of the Coordinadora.
• Advocacy with public administrations and other actors interested in security risk management in the humanitarian and development sector and context.
• Establish a forum for debate and reflection around the security of humanitarian and development staff when working in the field and in their home countries.

The organisations that are part of the Security Working Group are:

• Acción contra el Hambre (ACF-Spain, www.accioncontraelhambre.org).
• Cáritas (www.caritas.es/).
• Cruz Roja (Spanish Red Cross, www.cruzroja.es).
• Educo (www.educo.org).
• Fundación para la Promoción Social de la Cultura (www.fundacionfpsc.org).
• Médicos del Mundo (Doctors of the World Spain, www.medicosdelmundo.org).
• Movimiento por la Paz el Desarme y la Libertad (www.mpdl.org).
• Oxfam Intermon (www.oxfamintermon.org).

Currently, Médicos del Mundo (Doctors of the World Spain) is the organisation that coordinates the activities of the group.

There are three security-related training modules available from the virtual campus of the Coordinadora providing an introduction to security risk management, risk assessment and incident reporting. You can access these materials following this link: http://campus.coordinadoraongd.org/

The work that our organizations are doing extends to the wider world. They are present in 114 countries and develop their work in large cities and small ages. Many of them contribute to improving living conditions in remote areas and areas where there are no other actors. Summing up the work of all of them, we have a total of 3,857 projects in which 500.7 million euros are invested.
