| Description | If you have not attended a careStage event yet, it is a Garrison Institute International 60-90 min long session that takes place once a month and is free to join. Always related to humanitarian and care professions, each session has a particular topic that is explored and discussed together with a guest expert through a compassionate and contemplative lens. careStage are proud to announce the renowned Dan Siegel as the invited speaker. Dan Siegel is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UCLA School of Medicine and the founding co-director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center at UCLA. Dr. Siegel is also the Executive Director of the Mindsight Institute, an educational organisation, which offers online learning and in-person seminars that focus on how the development of mindsight in individuals, families and communities can be enhanced by examining the interface of human relationships and basic biological processes. In this session of careStage, Sander Tideman, GII Executive Director, and Dan Siegel will explore the topics of Self-identity and Belonging within the humanitarian system. Asking how can humanitarian organisations cultivate a caring organisational culture and compassionate work environments that enable humanitarian workers to not only care for others but also for themselves? They will also explore the reasons such organisations find internal compassion so difficult to apply and offer tools and approaches to addressing such managerial and organisational challenges. The audience is always welcome to join the stage and conversation. careStage routinely starts with a short reflective practice, led by Sander Tideman. After this, the dialogue with Dan Siegel will start followed by a Q&A. To conclude we will end with a guided meditation taking a moment to reflect on the past hour. The session will take place online on November 12th at 5 PM CET via Zoom. Due to a limited capacity, registration for this event is necessary. Registration link above. |
