In this workshop, we will look at some of the challenges facing organisations in navigating the digital world. We will explore, through a simulation exercise, the concepts of misinformation and disinformation, and the real world and physical consequences arising. Finally, we will have an opportunity to discuss key issues and concerns, learn and share experiences. Speakers:
The topic of digital security in the humanitarian and development sector is a relatively new one and not particularly well understood by many working in the sector. References to digital issues are typically referred to IT departments. While technical security is important, it does not address the massive risk posed by an online world. In contrast, there may also be opportunities for using digital technology to improve aid agency security risk management. Participants will be presented with a wide range of concerns and challenges, highlighting how integral the digital environment has become to our sector and the legal, moral, reputational, and criminal risks we face. Opportunities for harnessing the huge volume of digital information for effective security risk management will also be explored. Room: 1101 ABThe workshops will;
