Description | Risk and Strategic Management, Corp. (RSM) runs 2 and 3-day fully immersive HEAT courses in Virginia USA (50mins from DC) which are certified through the City and Guilds “Assured Program” of excellence. Their training is built on over a decade of experience of working in more than 75 countries in support of hundreds of NGOs. RSM is the IMF SSAFE provider and supports both small to large NGOs with HEAT courses. RSM is also the USAID PLSO holder for Nigeria and S Sudan, providing capacity building for both USAID and other donor implementers. RSM’s tried and tested curriculum includes 1 day of class discussion and practical exercising followed by up to 2 days of fully immersive training and simulation-based exercising. RSM is unique in that they have two design-built facilities. The Opal Road facility includes a 9-acre site for fully immersive training and exercising with a bullet penetration area, customs and illegal checkpoints, a mine lane, a reaction to gunfire area, an active shooter simulation hotel room and office space, and a 200-person conference space. Their 90-acre Pandora facility provides a uniquely NGO focused immersive environment with a customs border crossing, UN base, village, mine and UXO lane, bullet penetration and reaction to gunfire and indirect fire area, a refugee area, and hamlets, roads and tracks. They compliment their world class facilities with highly experienced instructors, role players and over $200,000 of training resources. RSM is also unique in that they include HEAT videogames into their training and offer 12-months access for all attendees to our 44+ module eLearning course for continued and refresher learning. Their course includes: travel security risk management, hotel and guesthouse security and safety, LGBTQIA risk management, direct and indirect fire attacks, active shooter and armed aggressor threats, casualty stabilisation, female security awareness, self-defense, checkpoint risk management, information and cyber security, land-based travel risk management, the human reaction to stress and PTSD, leadership under duress, carjacking risks, escaping from restraints, driving from the passenger seats, emergency hand signals, mines, UXO and boobytraps, bullet penetration and weapon characteristics, negotiation and conflict resolution tactics, emergency equipment and grab bags, navigating corrupt customs and illegal checkpoints, and kidnap and ransom awareness. A full course program can be requested and both open courses and tailored courses can be offered. |
